There are two ways to get in on the fun:
Use our web-based chat interface from any web browser. You'll need a recent version of Java for this to work (you probably already have this). IMPORTANT: This client will assign you a random nickname. Type "/nick MYNAME" to change it to your own.
Use or install your own Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client Some we like:
Windows? Try mIRC

Mac? Try Colloquy or Snak

Cross-platform, the cool Firefox addon, Chatzilla.   Works great.  On launch, type /server chat.smugmug.net then, once "in" type /join #smugmug

The server name is chat.smugmug.net and the main channel is #smugmug
